MentalFit Aquatics was created from the belief that swimming can transform more than physical ability — it can build confidence, resilience, and self-belief that lasts a lifetime.
Through supportive coaching and a mindset-focused approach, we help swimmers of all ages feel safe, capable, and empowered both in and out of the water.
At MentalFit Aquatics, every lesson is designed to support both mental and physical growth. We combine swim instruction with principles from sport and exercise psychology to help swimmers overcome fear, improve focus, and build confidence in the water.
Whether someone is learning basic water safety or working toward advanced goals, our coaching approach is centered around encouragement, patience, and personal growth.
We help swimmers build trust in themselves through patience, encouragement, and positive coaching.
Every challenge in the water becomes an opportunity for growth, strength, and self-belief.
We create a supportive environment where swimmers feel safe, welcomed, and empowered.
My journey in sport and exercise psychology began when I was 14 years old with a dream of helping people strengthen both their minds and bodies through movement and performance.
I earned my B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Psychology and Leadership from California State University, Long Beach, followed by a Master of Arts in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Argosy University. I continue to coach, teach, and grow MentalFit Aquatics.
Since 2009, I’ve coached swimming and water polo across youth, high school, and collegiate levels. I’ve also taught courses in swimming, water polo, sport psychology, kinesiology, and exercise science at Cal State LA since 2016.
MentalFit Aquatics was built to create a positive space where swimmers can develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong connection to the water.
In recent years, I faced one of the biggest challenges of my life after being diagnosed with classic Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Throughout treatment, I continued teaching, coaching, and developing MentalFit Aquatics while using swimming and movement as part of my own healing journey.
That experience deepened my belief that confidence, resilience, and mental strength are skills we can all develop both in and out of the water. It continues to inspire the supportive and empowering environment I strive to create for every swimmer and family at MentalFit Aquatics.
