Coach Mel

Hello there! My name is Mel~!
I’ve been addicted to swimming and love to swim whenever I get the chance.  I’ve been swimming since I was a kid and got really back into it when I went to college which is where I got involved in both lifeguarding and teaching. I love seeing my students get excited when they notice themselves improve on their abilities and become stronger in the water.
I can’t wait to meet you all!

Coach Keilah

When I started coming to Cal State Los Angeles, I was really struggling in my first semester, as being a first-time college student was a very new experience for me. I joined the swimming classes not only to keep myself active throughout the semester, but also to help with the load of all my academic classes. Swimming was the outlet that helped me balance the academic side of college, while also being mentally and physically rewarding.

Coach Art

Hello, I have been swimming since I was 7 years old. I played water polo in college, I was a class 1 swimmer in the Marine Corps, and I recently received my lifeguard certification. Don’t let my size fool you; I am a gentle, caring older individual who wants nothing more than to see you succeed in all your swimming goals. For you, newer swimmers, I would like to help you enjoy being in the water and build the confidence to experience all the healing you can get, mentally and physically, from swimming, and for you swimmers who are ok at swimming, make you a stronger swimmer, so maybe one day you can become an instructor/lifeguard like me. There are unlimited possibilities in the water!

Coach Ariel

I have participated in aquatic activities for over a decade and played water polo for three years at two colleges. I have over two years of lifeguarding experience at the California State University, Los Angeles campus and believe that the next step in promoting pool safety is teaching children how to swim and practice safe behavior around pools.
